Challenges & Approach
Travelex has embarked on a widespread digital transformation initiative in recent years. As part of its ongoing strategy to grow its online capabilities, the company has heavily invested in digital products.
“The incombent solution was beginning to show some limitations. We needed more flexibility and the ability to handle increasing complex traffic patterns, firewalls, and so forth. We also needed scalability, and the ability to increase performance using caching from our website and other applications. And importantly, security was a key consideration for us, especially with the growth we’ve seen in web-based apps and external threat exploits”

A10’s ADC not only matched but exceeded the performance we needed. Additionally, it had advanced security features like DDoS and provided the flexibility to deploy both on-premises and in cloud environments.

Flexibility and Scalability are Paramount
Travelex deployed Thunder ADCs which were primarily used for its eCommerce infrastructure requirements and load balancing across its web server estate. The A10 Thunder ADCs were split between its AWS cloud data platform in Ireland and in the Sydney region and divided between production and pre-production, as it looked to retire servers from its on-premises data centers in conjunction with the migration of server workloads to the cloud.
Today Travelex is also using A10’s FlexPool licensing, allowing it to flexibly allocate and re-distribute capacity across applications, multiple clouds and for data security.
