A10 Tackles Today’s Modern Security Threats at Black Hat USA 2017

Black Hat USA is officially in its 20th year – for two decades the information security event has given attendees the latest in research, development and trends.

A lot has changed in 20 years.

Think about it: In 1997 Hanson’s infectious “MMMbop” was a radio smash, and Puff Daddy and Mase were boasting “Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down.”

“Titanic” and “Good Will Hunting” were box office darlings.

And the Florida Marlins became the first wild card team to ever win the World Series in an extra innings game seven thriller.

That’s a real blast from the past, right?

Now recall where cyber security was 20 years ago.

Twenty years ago saw the first high-profile attacks on Microsoft’s Windows NT operating system. The U.S. government tested its readiness against cyber attacks. And Information Security published its first issue.

To say the cyber security landscape has evolved would be a dramatic understatement.

A10 at Black Hat

A10 Networks will be in Las Vegas for Black Hat USA 2017 to help celebrate the event’s 20th year and showcase cutting-edge security solutions built to defend against today’s modern threats.

Black Hat kicks off July 22 with four days of technical training, followed by the main two-day conference on July 26 and July 27. In true Black Hat fashion, you can expect an agenda chock full of briefing opportunities, exhibitions, sessions and much more.

We’ll be set up at booth 1265 in the expo hall at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center throughout Black Hat, showcasing and demoing our industry-leading security solutions.

DDoS Detection and Mitigation

As DDoS attacks grow in frequency, sophistication and size, businesses need a way to detect and mitigate DDoS attacks before they wreak havoc on networks and applications.

The Mirai malware thrust DDoS attacks into a new era, which was inconceivable in 1997. Threat actors use the malware to build botnets comprising tens of thousands of IoT devices to launch attacks exceeding 1 Tbps in size. This is the dawn of the DDoS of Things.

At Black Hat, we’ll show how A10 Thunder TPS can stop Mirai-powered DDoS attacks and protect your apps and networks from disruption. A10 Thunder TPS is our family of high-performance DDoS detection and mitigation solutions to defend against multi-vector DDoS attacks.

TPS delivers the industry’s best attack throughput with up to 300 Gbps at a rate of 440 Mpps. And the 200ms mitigation intervals and FPGA-based traffic acceleration mitigate attack vectors before they burden CPUs. TPS uses more than three dozen intelligence sources to block malicious traffic and escalates suspect traffic through more than 27 behavioral indicators to avoid legitimate traffic drops.

TPS is the world’s highest-performance DDoS solution to protect against megabit to terabit DDoS attacks.

Eliminate Encrypted Threats

Along with DDoS attacks, another threat is lurking, this time concealed in encrypted traffic. Threat actors are hiding malware and other nefarious traffic in encrypted traffic in hopes that organizations won’t notice it flowing through their pipes and infecting their networks.

Don’t fret. A10 Thunder SSLi decrypts traffic and enables security devices to analyze all enterprise traffic without compromising performance.

The state-of-the-art A10 Thunder SSLI decrypts traffic across all standard TCP ports and advanced protocols, such as SSH, STARTTLS, XMPP, SMTP and POP3. Because A10 Thunder SSLi is a full-proxy solution, ciphers can be re-negotiated to ciphers of similar strength to prepare for future ciphers or TLS versions.

And it’s the only SSL decryption solution that supports up to four internal HSMs, and multiple external HSMs to secure private keys.

A10 Thunder SSLi brings visibility into encrypted traffic to ensure concealed threats don’t pass through unnoticed. Talk about futuristic.

Celebrate with A10

Along with highlighting some of our security solutions, A10 will also host a VIP party to give guests some time away from the security and threat analysis hustle and bustle.

Join us at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, at the Border Grill in the Mandalay Bay (just outside the expo hall). This exclusive party will feature a festive Latin flare, cold margaritas and bold flavors.

Come join us to celebrate security at Black Hat USA. All party guests must register beforehand. A Black Hat badge is required for entry.

We look forward to helping you fight today’s threats at Black Hat USA 2017. We’ll see you in Vegas.
