A10 Networks Announces AX Series 2000 and AX Series 2100 Application Acceleration Switches for Next-generation Server Load Balancing New Models Deliver the Industry's Best Price/Performance Advantage for Enterprise Datacenters SAN JOSE, CA. - July 17, 2007 -- A10 Networks® today announced two new models for its award-winning application acceleration switch: the AX Series 2000 and the AX Series 2100, which both deliver excellent performance at affordable prices for enterprise datacenters of all sizes. The AX Series is a next-generation server load balancer that recently won Best of Interop Las Vegas and Best of Interop Tokyo 2007, beating the competition based on its Advanced Core Operating System (ACOS) architecture. The AX Series accelerates and optimizes all applications, including high volume and bandwidth intensive network applications such as voice, video and data, during normal and peak usage conditions. A10's new entry-level AX Series 2000 and AX Series 2100 models are 2U appliances that are designed for enterprise datacenters and server farms. The AX 2000 has two CPUs, two gigabytes (GB) of memory, eight gigabit (G) over copper ports, two G small form-factor pluggable (SFP) fiber ports, and an 80 GB hard drive. The AX 2100 has four CPUs, two GB of memory, eight G over copper ports, four G small form-factor pluggable (SFP) fiber ports, and dual 80 GB Raid 1 hard drives. Both AX models deliver higher performance at a lower price point than all of the incumbents' offerings in their class. "The AX Series 2000 and AX Series 2100 are highly-affordable, enterprise-grade, next-generation switches that deliver a new price/performance advantage for the application delivery controller and server load balancing markets," said Lee Chen, president and CEO of A10 Networks. "It is no longer necessary for organizations to compromise features and performance for value. Any enterprise conducting business over the Internet can leverage our new AX Series models to ensure that their applications and servers are always performing as desired – today and in the future." A10 Networks' AX Series family helps enterprises of all sizes and ISPs build secure, high availability application server farms. Key benefits within the AX Series include:
"The A10 team used its Layer 4-7 and super computing chops to develop its AX Series, which can perform high-speed parallel processing without slowing down to distribute or copy packets across multiple CPUs," said Jon Oltsik, senior analyst for Enterprise Strategy Group. "With the introduction of the AX 2000 and AX 2100 models, A10 is offering enterprise datacenters a viable alternative to incumbents' solutions for application acceleration and server load balancing." Advanced Core Operating System (ACOS): Optimized Multi-CPU Architecture The Advanced Core Operating System (ACOS) - built by A10's team of distinctive engineers with high performance L2-3, L4-7 and super-computing expertise - is the distinguishing technology that makes the AX Series stand out in the application delivery controller market. Many of the incumbent vendors' solutions are based on legacy architecture that is not designed to address the greater scale of Internet traffic and security requirements - for today and tomorrow. In order to address the need for speed, vendors continue to move their single-CPU software solutions to more powerful multi-CPU application acceleration systems. But without the complete redesign of the software, performance benefits as a result of more powerful hardware will never be realized. A10's AX Series with ACOS includes an optimized multi-CPU architecture, built from the ground up. It has maximum per-CPU independence with near zero interference among CPUs. ACOS linearly and concurrently scales processing resources in true parallel fashion. By evenly distributing application traffic to the system's processors, ACOS eliminates performance bottlenecks caused by unevenly loaded processors – allowing applications to perform as desired, especially during peak usage conditions. The AX Series 2000 and AX Series 2100 are available immediately.
