Inter-Process Communication

Inter-Process Communication (IPC) is a messaging sub-system that can enable data exchange between processors. Because IPC creates additional CPU overhead, it can result in delayed response times, slower software performance, and inaccurate real-time data per CPU.

A10 Networks ACOS operating system has been designed to avoid Inter-Process Communication. The operating system was designed from inception for multi-core CPUs, thus lifting single-CPU and single-core restrictions and making each processor truly independent.

Shared memory ensures that information is instantly accessible, enabling accurate, real-time, single-sourced data for global decision making criteria.

This "shared memory" approach removes the need for IPC or other messaging sub-systems within the AX series New Generation Application Delivery Controllers and Load Balancers.
